What if the sponsor doesn't have a Social Security Number?

There are instances where a U.S. citizen or green card holder (legal permanent resident) will need to apply for or request a Social Security Number (SSN). But the sponsoring spouse’s SSN is required as part of the financial support form (Form I-864), so they would not be able to submit a green card application without one.
